Okay, so that sweet loving dog that I just posted about being so great with my kids...well...she proved me wrong. One day as Drew was gently petting Natty, she jumped up and bit him, unprovoked. He was so lucky she just missed his eyeball, but he had a good shiner for a while. Needless to say, we decided something had to be done with the dog, but Tim still loves her too much to put her down. Therefore, she began to live a life of confinement to the laundry room.

This next boo-boo was the result of a sledding accident. I took Drew and Evelyn sledding on one of our crazy April snow days. It was our last run of the day. Drew went down first on his sled, lying on his belly. Evelyn and I followed in our sled. Half way down the hill, Drew fell off his sled. As we dodged him and passed by, I yelled, "DO NOT FOLLOW US DOWN!" Upon which, Drew got back on his sled, on his belly, and followed us down, colliding his face with our sled at the bottom of the hill. After the two block walk home with lots of blood, it was determined it was only a surface scratch and he would live...but I think the whole neighborhood knew about it since he cried the entire way home!!

After Natty bit Drew, I gave strict orders not to pet the dog, but Evelyn, my dog lover did not listen to my advice. As I was making them breakfast one morning, I went to let her outside. Evelyn calmly walked up to Natty and stroked her back, resulting in Natty turning around and biting Evelyn on the nose. I think both kids understand now what it means when I say...DON'T PET THE DOG!
Update on Natty: You would think with two bites to our children's faces she would not be around anymore, however, we struggle with the decision to put her down. Therefore, she continues to live confined in the laundry room most of the day. She gets let outside a lot and can roam the main floor when the kids are napping or sleeping.
