Eldorado Canyon-Fowler Trail Sept 2012

So my friend Molly, that lives in Seattle, has a friend from college, Jen, that just moved to Lafayette.  She put us in contact and we went out hiking with Jen to Eldorado Canyon.  We had a great time on the hike and the kids loved being able to hike on a mountain with cliffs without holding Mommy or Daddy's hands.

Before you criticize me for dressing Evelyn that way with white socks over her leggings, understand that when it comes to hiking, you want to be fully covered.  We found a tick on her when on vacation in Grand Lake and from now on, she will be completely covered during a hike.

By far the coolest thing about Colorado

The kids have decided that the coolest thing about Colorado is looking for hot air balloons on Sat and Sun mornings.  I think Tim likes it to because we have HUNDREDS of photos of hot air balloons.  This particular day was the COOLEST!  The hot air balloons were going right over our house.  Literally, we could wave at the people from our deck.

Tim took this looking straight up from our deck.  We were waving at the people.
Ev kept hollering, "Look up momma"

International Hearing Dog

The children's museum in Lafayette, called WOW, was having a demonstration done by International Hearing Dog, Inc.  We thought it would be good to go so the kids can see that other dogs are working dogs and not just Cody.  Also we got some information for Annie, for when she moves here.  This working dog was Cami.  She was really sweet!

Wonderland Lake Hike

We went on a beautiful hike to Wonderland Lake.  It would have been nice to make it around the entire lake, but SOMEONE had to go poop 20 minutes into the hike and I was not about to let him poop in the woods!
We did get the chance to see some really cool parachuters.  They just run off the top of the foothills and parachute down.  CRAZY PEOPLE!!

Evelyn prefers solitude.  She likes to hike about 50 feet behind us!

1st Day of Pre-K

Drew started back to school on Sept 5th.  He was VERY EXCITED!  Evelyn can't wait for school because she likes to pose just like Drew.

Memorial Day Weekend

Bright and early on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, the family went to a race in Louisville, called Coal Creek Crossing, to cheer on the participants.  There was a 10 mile and 5K race.  The kids had fun afterwards because there was a pancake breakfast and a Home Depot booth that they got to help build race cars.
On Memorial Day, we went to a parade in Louisville.  We had a great time but it was REALLY HOT!  Next time we will get there earlier so we can find more shade!!

Trying new things

So we tried the whole potty training thing.  She liked to wear the big girl panties, but mommy did not like the pee on the couch!
Then we tried the whole pigtail look.  Mommy thought she looked like "Abby Cadabby" from Sesame Street and, seriously, how cute does she look?  But Evely, no, she had those out in less than 5 minutes.

We also tried to take the nuk away, which turned into her climbing out of her crib to find it.  Therefore, she will have the nuk until we move her into a big girl bed.  So for now we are done trying new things with Evelyn.
